Urometry Flowrate and Post Micturation Uroflowmetry flow rate – is a procedure used to assess bladder and sphincter function. Post Micturation- used to check the residual urine volume retained in the bladder. Indications of Uroflowmetry Flowrate • Dysuria • Polyuria ( frequent urination) • Urinary Incontinence • Prostate enlargement Procedure: A. Preparation 1. Equipment • Clean Gloves • Flowmeter machine • Funnel • Urinal • Ultrasound Machine • Ultrasound gel 2. Patient • Identify patient • Provide privacy • Check doctor’s order • Obtain consent • Explain procedure to the patient • Ensure patient’s bladder is full B. Procedure 1. Identify patient 2. Explain procedure to the patient 3. Ensure consent is obtaines 4. Prepare patient 5. Set electronic connectivity between the flow rate machine and computer 6. Empty patient’s bladder in the funnel 7. Prepare patient and do bladder ultrasound 8. Clean the patient 9. Secure ultrasonogram 10.
