To avoid damaging your computer, perform the following steps before you begin working inside the computer. 1.

Ensure that your work surface is flat and clean to prevent the computer cover from being scratched.

Turn off your computer (see Turning off Your Computer).

3.

If the computer is connected to a docking device (docked), undock it. CA CAUTION: UTION: T To o disconnect a network cable, fir first st unplug the cable fr from om your computer and then unplug the cable fr from om the network de device. vice.

Disconnect all network cables from the computer. Disconnect your computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

Remove the main battery.

Ensure that the computer and all attached devices are turned off. If your computer and attached devices did not automatically turn off when you shut down your operating system, press and hold the power button for about 4 seconds to turn them off.

Connect any external devices, such as a port replicator or media base, and replace any cards, such as an ExpressCard.

Remove the screws that secure the base cover to the computer.

Pry the base cover along the edges to loosen it.

Lift and remove the base cover from the computer. 9

Installing the Base Co Cover ver 1.

Place the base cover to align with the screw holes on the computer.

Tighten the screws to secure the base cover to the computer.

Disconnect the battery cable from its connector on the system board.

Release the tabs that secure the battery in the battery bay.
