A belief in a supernatural power or powers that are regarded as the creators and maintainers of the universe. a social-cultural system of designated behaviors and practices, morals, beliefs, worldviews, texts, sanctified places, prophecies, ethics, or organizations, that relates humanity to supernatural, transcendental, and spiritual elements. a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.

Types of Religion



Monotheistic- the belief in one god. A narrower definition of monotheism is the belief in the existence of only one god that created the world, and being omnipotent, omnipresent, omnibenevolent, and omniscient.

Ex. Christian, Judaism, and Islam



Polytheistic- the worship of or belief in multiple deities, which are usually assembled into a pantheon of gods and goddesses, along with their own religious sects and rituals. Ex. Hinduism, Shintoism, thelema, Wicca, druidism, Taoism, Asatru and Candomble.



Animistic / Traditional Religion- belief in innumerable spiritual beings concerned with human affairs and capable of helping or harming human interests. 1.) The belief in the existence of individual spirits that inhabit natural objects and phenomena. 2.) The belief in the existence of spiritual beings that are separable or separate from bodies. 3.) The hypothesis holding that an immaterial force animates the universe. Ex. shinto

Different Religions of the World

Adherents of Religions of the World

Christians believe in the old in the new testaments of the bible which they considered as the holy book. Roman Catholicism- comprises the beliefs and practices of the catholic church. It stands under the authority of the bishop of Rome, the Pope, and is led by him and bishops who are held to be through ordination successors of Peter and the apostles. Protestantism- a form of Christian faith and practice which originated with the 16th Century reformation which is a movement against what its followers consider to be errors n the roman catholic church.

Religions in Southeast Asia

Islam- a monotheistic religion that developed in Saudi Arabia in the early 600s, it is directly related to Judaism and Christianity.

Judaism- a monotheist religion. They believe that their god made a special covenant or agreement with Abraham who is the father of the Jewish people. They believe that God revealed his loss to his people through Moses and the ten commandments.

It was founded by their prophet Muhammad who lived from 570 to 632 in south in Saudi Arabia. They have five pillars or central teaching. In Islam the teaching of Muhammad were collected into the book which is called Quran.

Judaism presently existed in the part or in the country Israel.

Relation of Religion in Globalization

Christianity- with the most adherents. They are heavily influenced by the religion Judaism. Some of its major beliefs is that it is a monotheistic religion which believes in one God who is all-powerful and all-knowing, and they also believe in Jesus Christ who died for the sins of the mankind, so they believe that salvation comes from the faith in God.

Globalization

has played an enormous role in providing a context for the revival and the recovery of religion religions have spread and scattered all over the world and through globalization religion continued to grow from places to places. As religion entered the information age, it has globalized at accelerating rates through technological advancement.

Information technologies, transport means, and the media are the bridges to disseminate religious ideas. The are different websites which are accessible to any part of the world, that provide information about different religions.

Internet allows people to contact each other easily worldwide which allows religious ideas to spread. Media plays a significant role in disseminating religious ideas. There are television channels, radio stations and print media that advocates religion. Sometimes, we can also see people who are giving leaflet or booklet from house to house just to share their religions or religious beliefs. Through internet and different websites, religion epitomizes the definition of globalization since it can be spread more easily and efficiently using different media.

It is now possible for any religion to spread beyond national borders allowing even small religious movements to engage in overseas activities and leading to new unseen religious developments....
