Description

As technology continues to progress, careers in accounting information systems are being created. For this discussion take a moment to explore some of the new career paths in accounting information systems. In the discussion forum, post an initial response that answers the following questions: Explain which accounting information systems career path interests you. Discuss why this career interests you. Explain if the accounting information system position you chose can or cannot be used in your country. There are several career paths that are open for people with joint education in Accounting and Information Systems, and for me, the most interesting one is forensic accounting, which "involves the use of accounting skills to inspect the accounting records in order to determine if fraud or embezzlement have occurred". (Franklin et al., 2020). This career path is closely connected with AIS not only because some software makes it easier to analyze accounting information but also because of the fact that our environment is developing very fast, as well as criminals, and it is very important to not let them be one step ahead. "Using new systems keeps forensic accountants up to date in the latest ways people are committing financial crimes." (Carroll, 2015). This career interests me mostly because forensic accountants are some kind of detectives who investigate different situations that can be connected with fraud schemes in accounting documents and the results of such criminal activities. I have always liked puzzles and modern technologies, which seems a perfect match for investigating the use of Information Systems. Another thing that I especially like is that forensic accountants have very interesting acquaintances. It is obvious that they cannot know everything in the world, so it often happens that they have to consult with professionals of different professional fields. Such consultations make it easier and faster to recognize whether the fraud schemes really take place and it is always important to save as much time as possible not to let a lot of people lose money.

This position can be used in my country. However, due to the current economical situation, the salaries are extremely low - from $380 to $1200 a month in the capital city. I believe that forensic accounting is connected with serious responsibility and is very stressful it is said, that you must be dedicated and stimulated to carry through (Victoria C., 2017). I am not sure that I want to take so much responsibility for this salary in my country - I can earn more doing something much easier.
