• Why Fiction is important to learning...
Anton Chekhov works are amazingly solid with the power of feelings they bring to readers, his short story "HUSH" is really an exceptional work. The author intended to present to us how difficult to be a journalist who's trying to prove himself despite the troubles and difficulties of life. The thing that was very impressive about the story is how the character IVAN YEGORITCH KRASNYHIN was very desperate trying to make his job done while he comes back home late at night and trying to concentrate on writing by keeping his kids and wife totally calm. “Shattered, soul-weary, a sick load of misery on the heart . . . and then to sit down and write" (Chekhov, n.d., para. 2) With noticeable support from his wife, who prevented any noise or movement in the house, so her husband could write smoothly without interruptions, but he is still complaining about difficult life, family noise and terrible work style “Our work, this cursed, ungrateful hard labour, exhausts the soul even more than the body. . . . I had better take some bromide. . . . God knows, if it were not for my family I’d throw up the work. . . . To write to order! It is awful.” (Chekhov, n.d., para. 25) This story reflects the reality of all of us when we pass through moments looking for complete calm and focus to accomplish a specific duty within a very limited time, and this is what attracted me so much to the story.
