3. a) what is the difference between personality and temperament? Personality is basically the combination of behavior, emotion, motivation and thought patterns that define an individual. It can as well be defined as the characteristic sets of behaviors, cognitions, and emotional patterns that evolve from biological and environmental factors. Whereas, temperament refers to the different aspects of an individual’s personality that are considered as innate or inborn and is not learned. It is usually assumed to be biologically determined and present early in life.

3. b) explain the following temperament styles: easy, difficult and slow to warm up. These styles are the three basic types of temperament as they are noted in children;   

Easy child: a child whose temperament is such that he quickly establishes regular routines in infancy, is generally cheerful, and adapts easily to new experiences. Difficult child: a child whose temperament is such that she is irregular in daily routines, is slow to accept new experiences, and tends to react t negatively and intensely (anger) Slow to warm up child: a child whose temperament is such that she reacts to negatively to and withdraws from novel stimuli(fear)

3. c) What is goodness of fit? Goodness of fit as used in psychology describes the compatibility of a person’s temperament with the features of their particular social environment as different environs have differing characteristics and demands. it is seen as cultivating healthy psychological and social development.

4. a)explain what culture is. According to spencer-Oatey 2008,culture is a fuzzy set of basic assumptions and values ,orientations to life, beliefs, policies, procedures and behavioral convections that are shared by a group of people , and that influence (but do not determine) each members behavior and his/her interpretations of the meaning of other people’s behavior. Considering many more opinions on its definition, culture is arguably an umbrella term which encompasses the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or social group....
