Why ASL? Why ASL was signed and produced by Justin Jackerson on October 31, 2011. Why ASL is very informative because we find out what will happen to deaf babies or hard-of-hearing babies when their first born. Why ASL is helping and teaching us new information that can assist us in any situation if we ever come across a deaf child or have birth to one. Why ASL tells us to teach them this information at an early age like birth-4 years old to help them grasp it and it will help them in the long run. “Exposing ASL at an early age will give your child a head start at experiencing Motherese or babbling”. (Morford & Mayberry, 2000) If you don’t they will fall behind and will not have the same chance like the other babies and will fall behind in language development. Why ASL is about knowing the situation at hand. If you are going deaf, have hard-ofhearing or a deaf child they should be able to learn early if they do become deaf or hard-ofhearing later in life. It will help them have this type of information that most deaf people don’t. Why ASL video gives us an in depth informative video that will us in the future. Why ASL also teaches us that we can share this information with others just in case. I learned a lot of information about ASL in this 5:43 video. The three things I learned from this video is that “Exposing your child at an older age, your child would fall behind in language development.”, “Exposing your child at an early age,your child would have a head start with motherese and babbling.”, and “providing your child with ASL during birth-4 years old will give them access to

information like other subjects.” (Lenneberg, 1967). It helped me understand that it is important for deaf children to learn important information at an early age. Why ASL fits into my course is because this is Deaf Culture. We are learning about Deaf and deaf people. We are learning about the history of Deaf Culture and hoe everything little aspect that surrounds ASL. It helps us because we never know what our situation is going to be like in the future so this is great knowledge to learn. Everyone should find the video very informative and useful. This video gave me a lot of information about ASL. It definitely helped me learn more about ASL. CONCLUSION My Conclusion about Why ASL is that Why ASL is very informative and it's telling us how to take care and assist us in a situation that will help us know if our is showing early signs of being deaf. To me, it gives ASL a better understanding and to help us learn more about it and the people in the deaf community. It always great to have knowledge about a certain situation. I definitely love learning about Deaf Culture and how it came to be from 1817 to now....
