A assinentment that you may have to do ...
A year ago at this time I still had no idea what I wanted to go to university for, but I did know that I wanted to go to university. Ever since I can remember my parents have been telling me that university was the way to go if you wanted to have a good successful career, and I understand why they said that but I just couldn’t think of anything I cared enough about to pursue in university. Until I had a talk with my older brother, who is currently in his second year at Guelph for marketing management. He talked to me about how I don’t need to necessarily go to school for something that I am extremely passionate about, but instead I can go to school for something that can later help me be successful in whatever I want to do. He told me to not only look at the next 4 years and what I might be studying, but to look at the next 10 or 20 years and think about how I can use what I will be learning in school to pursue my passions and become successful in them. And that is why I decided to apply at the Gordon S. Lang School of Business at Guelph. So that I can later use the skills I have learned here and apply them to something I really care about. I chose marketing management as my major only because when looking through all of the different majors I thought that I would be able to do the best at marketing management. I think it’s something that will make more sense to me than some of the other majors and I think it’s something that I can be more intrigued in and motivated at compared to the other majors. Out of all the schools I applied to Guelph was my first choice. As I said earlier, I wasn’t too sure on what to apply to when applying to different schools. So I applied for lots of different programs at different schools. Some were for things like photography or general arts, but when waiting to hear back from the schools I was most anxious to hear from Guelph. I knew I wanted to go to Guelph because my older brother already goes here, and I came to visit him many times last year and I always had a great time. I just loved the campus and the people and the lifestyle in general, so I knew that if I got accepted I would have an amazing year here. The only problem I have that I would like to get solved in the future is who I will be working for, and I hope that someday it will be me myself and I. My goal after university is to have something in mind that I am passionate about, and to strive to create my own business based off of what I am passionate about. I have thought about it a lot and have realized that I really don’t want to be working set hours for a boss who I barely even know for my whole life, but instead I want to open my own business because I know I would be more committed and passionate towards something that is my own work and my own thoughts rather than me just assisting someone else's ideas....
