Workday Scarf A simple little garter stitch project that incorporates a smaller version of the lace edging used in the Workday Shawl, from the book Norwegian Handknits, by Sue Flanders and Janine Kosel. This project is every knitter’s dream – easy to knit and beautiful to wear. Referred to as “Comfort Knitting” – this scarf offers the ease and beauty of garter stitch with a lovely lace edging that is worked at the same time as the body of the scarf. The best way to relax after a long workday knitting that only requires attention to detail every 8th row. Materials and Tools: One skein (3.52 oz/100g = 454 yds/416m), Araucania Huasco – Hand-painted Pure Extra fine Merino Wool. Size 3 ndls, any length. Finished Measurements: Length – 60”, Width – 1-1/2” to 8” taper Pattern Note: For a smooth, crisp edge, with yarn in front of work, slip the first stitch in each row (purlwise), after slipping first stitch, move the yarn to the back of the work and continue to knit the remaining sts.

Directions: CO 11 sts. Increase Rows: Rows 1-7: s1, k to end. Row 8: BO 4 sts, (yo, k1) 4x, yo, k to end. Repeat increase rows 1-8 until there are 56 sts. Decrease Rows: Rows 1-7: s1, k to end. Row 8: BO 4 sts, (yo, k1) 4x, yo, k3tog, k to end. Repeat decrease rows 1-8 until there are 11 sts remaining. Bind off. Tuck in ends, block and enjoy!
