Casey Skinner 1-2 Competencies needed by HR Professionals HR is a very important and detailed career. The competences you should obtain for this position are key to how successful you will be. The competences I believe HR staff should obtain are communication skills, vision, ethical approach, leadership, business acumen, good judgment, business relations & critical thinking. Communication is important in every career field, especially HR. You must be able to communicate with employees and higher ups about the needs for the company. Vision allows you to see goals and future aspirations for the company. With vision in mind, you are driven to grow and succeed. Ethical approach is a must to open your mind up to a wide range of employees. Ethics builds your company culture and brings diverse opportunities to the table. Leadership is important when hiring, firing, and training the people in the company. You must be able to take lead and control your positional duties. Business Acumen allows you to promptly and appropriate make decisions that are best for the company. By acting quickly and effectively, you show that you are confident and knowledgeable in decision making, especially in tough situations. Having good judgement will help you hire successful employees that best fit the company’s standards. Business relations gives you connections within and allows for the company to grow and succeed. Critical thinking is important when it comes to daily tasks. To analyze the situation or task at hand and come up with a resolution involves critical thinking and judgment. Obtaining a HR certificate shows that you are knowledgeable, accredited, and dedicated to the field of work. It proves that you are educated in that line of work and have the skills to take on the work of HR. It helps present your skills as valuable assets and shows that you are capable of the position....
