Description

Aims and values – Kings models of cj – King's six models consist of; due process model; crime control model; medical model; bureaucratic model; status passage model; power model. Even though King agrees with Packer, he argues that these six models are essential to the effectiveness of the criminal justice system. Due process -

The key is how they find the accused guilty. Unlawfully attained evidence bad will not suffice here. It’s a mainstream approach.

Consequence of increasing crime rates and economy and society. End goal to limit crime. Wide range police powers miscarriages can happen and violated rights but the price we pay. But heavy police powers and people could take justice into own hands as it violates people too much and causes riots. Only to some degree this works.

Rehabilitation – the social function is for justice and punishment but here we like rehab. Understand criminals. Down to your own make up. Can throw criminal law ar and mr out the window and can say we don’t know what we do next as our neuro physiological makeup.

Underlying issues. Need for public accountability, this is a public service. Public management. But they D us tried as best as they can with limited resources. Guilty pleas are efficient in police station and have benefits but also fake guilty.

Wrongdoer publically tried and sentenced. For denunciation and derogation. Triggers our sense of right and wrong. To then think we are on the right side of justice. Gives slime chance of rehab as cant come back into community and then less chance of reoffending rates decreasing

. Cjs is powerful and influenced by race elites and gender. Lots of racism eg data on stop and search. Abuse of power. Women domestic abuse and men are victims of homicide. Different approaches and evidence needs for cases.

No one fully explains any criminal phenomenon. Respective theories have different value levels.

1 – yes as they set an overarching tone and then kings models helps set out differing branches and models to help tackle differing crimes Crime control and due process are packers. But kings feeds into the central running of the cjs. 2- criminal trial is to reap justice in an orderly manner in line with civil liberites and rights founded. It is also to see what can be done for the punishment and for ds next steps within society. It is also for guilt or not to be established and reprimanded. 3- victims should present all information and evidence to help the adversarial system of judge or jury to dictate what is strong and qualifies. V also helps to better society. 4- no clear theory. All intwine but due process should be held 99% of time and others will follow and fall into place....
