12 lead EKG cheat sheet acls class paramedic paper work sheet for anyone that needs some extra help...
Myocardial Infarction Mimics Left Bundle Branch Block – Blockage of the left ventricle.
Electricity has to take the roundabout route from the right ventricle to the right. Remember: the left ventricle dominates the majority of the electrical activity on the EKG so this will look wide and bizarre on the EKG. Terminal wave in V1 will be negative1.
Early Repolarization –
looks similar to pericarditis
Pericarditis - An inflammation of the pericardium.
Sharp chest pain that gets worse when coughing, take a deep breath, or lay flat. When present, it will usually have one or more of these signs: Tachycardia, PR Depression, Diffuse ST Elevation that concave up with a “scooped-out” appearance, Notching at the end of the QRS.
Left Ventricular Hypotrophy (LVH) - an enlarged or hypertrophied left ventricle.
There is thicker myocardium causing an increase in electric signal to innervate, therefore there is an increase in amplitude. To determine LVH take V1 or V2 whichever is higher, then take V5 or V6 whichever is higher. Add them up and if it equals or is greater than 35 mm, you have LVH. 1 small box = 1mm; 7 large boxes = 35mm.
Hyperkalemia – High potassium levels.
Sharp tall peaked T waves
Wolff Parkinson White (WPW) - an extra electrical pathway between your heart's upper and lower chambers causes a rapid heartbeat; Characterized by the following: Shortened PR interval (< 0.12) with a normal P wave, Wide QRS (>0.12), The presence of a Delta wave, ST-T wave changes, Associated with paroxysmal tachycardias...
