Twelve Articles of Apostles Creed: 1st article: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth

7th article: From there he will come to judge the living and the dead Refers to our belief that Jesus will return to earth one day, to finally pass judgment on everyone.

Our Belief in the existence of God, His role as Father His great power His act of creating heaven and earth

8th article: I believe in the Holy Spirit Explicitly stating the formerly-implied belief in the Holy Spirit; the third person of the Trinity.



2nd article: And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, Our Lord We confess…  Jesus exists  He is the son of God  The only son, in a certain sense  He is above us in authority

9th article: the holy catholic church, 

States that Jesus founded a church while on earth & that church was the Catholic Church. :the communion of saints

3rd article: Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, Born of the Virgin Mary  

We say that Jesus was conceived in the womb of Mary, by the Holy Spirit Also implies belief in the Holy Spirit and Mary



10th article: the forgiveness of sins 

4th article: Suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried   

Implies the belief in the facts surrounding the crucifixion and death of Jesus Also says that it was Pontius Pilate who sentenced Jesus to crucifixion, after having him scourged. After his death, Jesus was buried in a tomb





The word “Hell” is a translation of the word “Sheol”, w/c can mean the actual hell, but can also mean just “The Realm of the Dead” This is a way of saying that the spirit of Jesus actually descended into a Realm of Death when he died

6th article: He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of god the father almighty 

“Seated at the right hand” means that Jesus always has the ear of his father, and is second only to him in authority.

God CAN and DOES forgive sins

11th article: the resurrection of the body  

Doesn’t actually refer to the resurrection of Jesus. Instead. It’s abt the promise that at the end of time, everyone will be reunited w/ their bodies.

12th article: and life everlasting, amen 

5th article: He descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead

Belief that the people who are accepted by God for eternal life become Saints, & are brought into heaven.

This refers to heaven as "life everlasting", w/c is another belief w/c we should hold....
