Edinburgh Napier University Accounting for Business Assessment 1 Due to the on-going exceptional circumstances, the normal invigilated 1 st class test will now take place ONLINE at 9am on Monday October 11 th 2021. The assessment requires you to prepare the financial statements of a company and contributes 25% of the overall module marks. The assessment will be marked out of 100, with 80 marks awarded for completing the six column working paper and the other 20 marks awarded for turning that working paper into the formal presentation of financial statements. The normal time allowance for this assessment is one hour but, in order to allow time for uploading/downloading and also to accommodate students who are entitled to additional time for assessments, you will have two hours to complete the assessment. In answering the assessment, you may use any resources available to you, but it must be attempted on an individual basis (no collusion with fellow students). Instructions for 9am on Monday October 11 th 2021 1. Go to the block on Moodle entitled Assessment 1: Preparation of Financial Statements. 2. Go to the relevant folder for the first letter of your surname. 3. Download both of the documents in the folder. One is your assessment question (word) and one is the spreadsheet (excel) that you will use to answer the assessment. 4. Type your matriculation number into the box on the top of the six column worksheet 5. Complete the six column worksheet. 6. Go to the tab in the bottom left hand corner (finstatement) and complete the formal layout of your company’s financial statements. 7. Do NOT include any workings on your spreadsheet. We will know where your figures have come from (we are very clever !!) and will reward you accordingly. Use your own scrap paper for workings. 8. Once completed, please upload your spreadsheet (excel) to the assessment dropbox at the bottom of the block. Your submission MUST be the excel file you downloaded (no pdfs, word documents, screenshots or photos will be accepted). You must do this before 11am on Monday October 11th 2021 or your submission will not be accepted. NB. If you are using a mac device you must export your document into an excel format before uploading. 9. We hope to return the marks to you by 9am on Monday October 25 th 2021.
