2-1 Discussion Future Plans

What is your current major and future dream job? What possible companies would you like to work for? Why?

I am getting my B.A. in Graphic Design and Media Arts. While I am not sure what my dream job is; I am striving to work for a company that I can use my skills and do the work they desire while working from home. I would really love to design logos and book covers. Maybe signs, both digital and printed. There are lots of companies out there that I would love to work for. Mitchells, Lando, Meta Design and Realfisher. These companies deal with various types of clients and have a variety of services like logo design, digital design, brand identity, and editorial design. These companies would give me the experiences that I am looking for. 

How are media and technology used by someone in your field of study or by a professional in your future career?

Media art and technology are used by people in my field of work every day. Graphic designers create magazines, advertising brochures, posters, billboards, bus wraps, and much, much more. In order to create the clients products a graphic designer might have to create a color palette, do sketches, take photographs and do a lot of communicating with the client via email, texting or other forms of digital communication. The Graphic designer will obviously use a computer, laptop or tablet with programs that allow them to be able to complete the project.  How do you think media tools impact media messaging? There are many different ways that media tools can be used to impact messaging. In social media, such as Face Book, You Tube, Twitter, etc. You can use these to measure influences with likes, subscripers, potsts etc. However the information can be biased depending on how it was posed and who responded to it. Also, many seem to follow the crowd and not necessarily go with their own beliefs especially within our society.  What might an average day look like in this field? An average day in the graphic design field would probably start in an office with coffee and bagels. Then after logging into their computer and checking messages from clients and maybe supervisor. The graphic designer would probably have deadlines to meet so they would check on work to make sure it is schedule. They may have meetings with new clients or current ones. Most of the day would probably be working at their desk, sketching or working on the computer. Once they are done with the project they would get it approved by supervisor and the client. Then they would clear things for the start on the next day before heading home for the night....
