Bias and Assumption I have learned that Instagram often represents as bias brought by an acquaintance or family. The frequency of these biases tends to be religious or political. I have been unfriended by friends and family just because of a post that has a unique point of view from theirs. It is typically because I would post a quote or an image that goes against their political, social or religious belief. Additionally, I would go into instants of being called an ignorant for not agreeing to their beliefs. I would associate this type of bias with social and communal bias. Coming from a perspective that our side is right, and the other is wrong, to me is like accepting partial information. These views are established since we were in diapers, from when we were growing up and our parents would shed some insight of their thoughts. Occasionally we drift from these principles, and we are introduced with more or different statistics and whether we like it or not; we are open to this information. Being aware of bias is important as is good to always acknowledge both sides of information. If we don’t comprehend bias, we could be utilizing data written by someone who did research to expand their plan, and eventually miss all the test and data that scientific studies support. By learning the opinion of others even if we agree or not is exercising bias.
