02.03: The Anti-Federalists Answer each question using complete sentences. 1. Pick a point of view, the Federalists or the Anti-Federalists. Write a paragraph that clearly states their position on ratifying the Constitution (What is your group’s position on ratifying the Constitution? Give 2 reasons why. What is their opinion of the Articles of Confederation?) a) The constitution shouldn’t be ratified, the particular reason for this circumstance is the anti-federalists considered that the bill of rights should be added to the constitution for protection of the people’s rights. Also they desired that the political power remain in states. I believe that the articles of confederation should not be derelict but rigid. 2. Answer from your group’s point of view (Federalist or Anti-Federalist) Explain how the government will be set up under the Constitution. How will ratifying the Constitution change the way our country is governed? From your group’s opinion, are these changes improving our country or making it worse? Explain. b) The constitution would change our country and the way its governed, for example the 3 branches of government. Also the constitution would give the federal government power from the states. The antifederalist were afraid to ratify the constitution because they believed that the executive might become king. 3. Based on the point of view of your selected for question #1 (Federalists or Anti-Federalists) does your group feel we should include a bill of rights? Explain why or why not. c) Anti-federalist had a feeling that the bill of rights should be included because most of the rights were protection inside document and that all rights should be equal to the protection. They also considered that the bill of rights was mandatory to protect the people. 4. Explain why you disagree with the opposing position. For example, if you are writing as a Federalist, you will explain why you disagree with the Anti-Federalist’s stance. In other words, why is the other side wrong about their argument over the Constitution? d) I disagree because they were opposed to individual rights and I felt as if everyone should have equal rights, justice and protection. They really didn’t cared about the people, only thought that the government will use the documents as a foundation to restrict rights. 5. Include 1 quote from either the Federalist or Anti-Federalist Papers and explain how it supports your position on ratification of the Constitution. e) “ SOME RIGHTS WERE WORTHY OF PROTECTION WITHIN THE DOCUMENT, THEN ALL RIGHTS SHOULD HAVE THE SAME LEVEL OF WRITTEN PROTECTION”. I totally agree because they should’ve been equal from the start, they also should all have protection because if you cant give all then don’t give none....
