3. Discuss the two sources of recruiting that an organization can use. In your response include a listing of some of the methods available for each of the sources. What are the advantages and disadvantage of each the sources and methods.

There are two sources of recruiting an organization can use and that are: 1. Internal recruiting : Hiring from inside – it means making people already employed by the organization aware of job openings . Employees currently working in their own company are departed to other department or higher position. If the employees’ performance is excellent and up to the mark, they are given chance to occupy higher level from the current post. Methods used for internal recruiting:       

Promotions Internal advertisement Temporary employee to contractual period Information about job vacancies on bulletin, newsletter and organization intranet Contract employees to temporary Temporary employees to permanent Retired employees for part time or freelancer position

Advantages of internal recruiting:       

Easy Less time consuming No detailed interview required Employees tend to stay for a longer period in the company if they get promoted Competition takes place between employees to occupy high level when coworker is promoted Its cost effective Fewer risks because internal candidates are familiar with organization

Disadvantage of internal recruiting :       

Restricts the competition for positions and limits place of fresh talent and viewpoints It may encourage employee’s longevity and seniority will automatically result in position Whenever a job is filled it creates vacancy. Discrimination may exist in respect to caste, language, religion or promotion Dissatisfied co-employee may leave the job because of jealousy or partiality No opportunities for external employees Lack of innovative

External Recruiting: Hiring from outside – It means attracting job applicants from outside the organization . An external source involves recruiting candidates externally for better performance and innovation. External employees always feel young and innovative for new companies, more active enough to find business problems and fix it. Though recruiting external candidates might be tougher but it has more positive effect on business compared to internal source.

Methods of external recruitment :         

Job portals Social Media recruitment Newspapers and Ad magazines Websites Campus recruitments Word to mouth Direct walk in Recruitment agencies Internal employee referrals

Advantages of external recruiting:        

Create new opportunities for job seekers and experience employees Applicants may have specialized knowledge and experience Applicants may have fresh viewpoints Branding increases externally More applicants from external employees Increases business strategy High productivity New improvement and innovative ideas

Disadvantages of external recruiting:      

High cost Takes longer Risks are elevated because applicants are less well known Sourcing quality profiles becomes difficult External applicants ask for more salary and benefits External applicants may quit the job in short period if uncomfortable....
