Description

Gary Fuller ENGL 316 19 September 2018 Assignment Foundation (Resume and Cover Letter)

Purpose What, exactly, do you expect your writing to do? What is the specific purpose of this particular assignment? I expect my writing to persuade the company, Wells Fargo, to hire me as a bank teller. The purpose of my cover letter and resume is to show them my abilities, strengths and talents that I can contribute to the company if I get the job.

Audience Who, exactly, are you writing to? I am writing to the hiring manager and HR representative at Wells Fargo. They are full of knowledge of the bank and they know what they need in workers. They are looking for professional people who are willing to work hard and for consistent hours. There are usually not a lot of workers in the bank, so they have a hiring process that is more thorough than other places. My resume and cover letter should be simple, but detailed.

Scope How much should you include to carry out your purpose? I should include anything that will help them see I am a good fit for the job. I should not include irrelevant schooling or work experience. All experiences should show them that I have the skills needed to work for Wells Fargo. I should include the cover letter and the resume. My texts should be clear, simple and concise.

Format How should the completed project look? The format of my resume should be eye-catching, simple and clean. Fonts should be attractive and follow the detail of the material. The cover letter is also very simple, starting with the address, then the body and finally, the signature.

Schedule When does the assignment need to be completed? The rough draft is due on Monday, September 17th when we will do peer review. The final draft is due on Wednesday, September 19th.

Selection Committee Wells Fargo Bank 442 900 E Provo, UT 84606

Dear Selection Committee:

Thank you for taking a moment to review my application and consider me for the part-time position as a Bank Teller at Wells Fargo Bank. I have been banking with Wells Fargo for 2 years and appreciate the level of professionalism, efficiency and simplicity that the bank provides to its customers. I am a full-time student at Brigham Young University studying Microbiology. I strive to maintain diligence and discipline in my school work and employment opportunities. It is my responsibility and my joy to lighten the burdens of my leaders and team-members. Attending school and coming into work are not things I take lightly, and I remain professional in all that I do. Time is money, and I save both. Being an efficient worker is what I strive to do each day, so I can accomplish more within my shift. Wherever I work, I create an environment where staff members feel motivated and excited to get work done in a timely manner. When working opening shifts at Chick-Fil-A, it was important to use the morning time to complete mandatory set-up tasks. My team members and I would always accomplish these tasks prior to opening time so we could give our full focus to customers upon their arrival. Customers should enter a branch and feel taken care of by a friend. The people who bank with Wells Fargo are the most important, and I have a caring attitude that motivates me to put them first. I love to offer a simple smile and to be friendly and helpful to whomever I serve. I hope I may apply these traits of professionalism, efficiency, and simplicity to work at Wells Fargo. My desire to create a pristine, motivated and friendly work environment makes me an ideal fit for this position. Thank you again for this opportunity, I hope to hear from you soon.

Best Regards,...
