The Nature versus Nurture debate, which can seamlessly be equated to Psychology's longest and most highly contested controversy, argues how each of the two influences separately contribute to the underlying causes of human behavior and development. Some people accredit human behavior and development to contributing factors that are purely genetic or biological, such as the genetic makeup and hereditary factors. Conversely, others deduce solely the environmental factors, such as experience and learning, to be the primary motivators which shape a person's behavior.
