5 dynamics Report

The five dynamics report was very enlightening as it confirmed things that I already knew about myself and others, I did not know but had a “ah ah “ moment! I learnt that I am more of a “how” person and I have finally figured out why I am constantly thinking, planning and that my mind never goes to sleep because of my creative drive. Wow! After the report I disagreed that I scored under the excite energy group. I say this because I am not charismatic in any way, I do not live in the moment because I am always busy worrying about something in the future that I can’t fully enjoy anything I am currently engaged in. I am an introvert, loves being alone, I am quiet and very conservative. I was surprised that I scored as deliberate excite as I definitely need to know more about a situation before I move forward, I do not care much about the who and I am the kind of girl who just want to fight for a cause such as injustice, physical abuse and things I am passionate about. But if I am told let’s get on board a project because Beyoncé will be heading it, I would not care less…. well except for my future husband Idris Elba (jokingly). I do see few qualities I have, that may represent that of the effortless examine energy, such like following the rules and being traditional. It is very true that under the deliberate excite, I find it takes a lot of energy to work with others on a project on a longterm basis, particularly if I do not have these persons in my close circle of friends. I can say with all conviction, that anything under the excite energy will be something I have to make a conscious effort to do. The report was also spot on with scores on execute, in that I do not need to be in a leadership role or take control over situations. In a leadership situation I do not function very well because I try to do everything myself and I seldomly delegate, leaving me feeling overwhelmed. Learning to share the responsibilities of a task is something that I can apply to my life. I can confirm also that I am a procrastinator and focusing my energy on completing tasks assigned is something that I struggle with.

My two strengths, under my extreme explore energy, would be that I am a creative thinker and that, I need to see the bigger picture of anything before I can understand it or engage. The report did show many opportunities for growth in the excite energy group. I need to live a little ,have more fun and not take everything so seriously. I need to work on the outside me. I know I am full of energy but whatever good I have on the inside does not reflect on the outside because I am most times so serious, task oriented and focused, that I look angry and unapproachable. The pros of working with member only executes on the same project would be that we are able to motivate each other and keep the excitement throughout the project. When there are hurdles, we would remain optimistic and positive. We would have lots of fun because we love to use humor and laughter when we work. The cons with working with the same energy group would be that there might be too many ideas which might keep the project behind, there’s a saying that goes, “ too many cooks spoil the broth,” well yes! We may find it difficult to settle on one idea because there are so many ideas. The second con to working

with others of the same execute energy group is that I may find it difficult to work with someone that I do not have a good relationship with. This might put a strain on the communication during the project and its overall success.

The value and benefits to the five dynamics is that it has made me aware of my strengths and weaknesses and have given me insight into the challenges I may encounter working with others who have the same or different styles. It has also made me a little more aware of myself, despite already knowing some of these attributes, I have learnt more. It’s an eye opener. Overall, with the dynamic reports I can find ways to be more successful in my career, by knowing what roles and dynamics I may need to assume as to be more productive and useful to my team and organization. For instance, I can take a leadership role when starting projects such as patients teaching or home renovation projects. With long term commitments such as charge nurse or uniform policy committee, I may be more productive taking a team player approach than a leadership position....
