1. Is the Purple Stem trait dominant or recessive? Support your conclusion with examples from your laboratory observations. The purple stem trait is dominant, this is because there were visibly more purple stem plants in the trials. 100% of F1 generation was purple and about 75% of F2 was purple. 2. Is the Yellow-Green Leaf trait dominant or recessive? Support your conclusion with examples from your laboratory observations. The Yellow-Green leaf trait is recessive. There were more purple stem plants compared to the yellow-green plants in the trails conducted all together. 3. Based on your observations, what are the phenotype and genotype of the P1 plant? What did you deduce to be the genotype and phenotype of the P 2?

3 The phenotype for the P1 plant is green stem, and the genotype could be labeled as pp, indicating that the green stem trait is recessive. The phenotype for the P2 plant is purple stem, and the genotype could be labeled as PP. 4. Based on your observations, draw the Punnett square for the cross of the P1 and P2 parental plants. P

a. Based on the Punnett square above, what is the percentage of offspring that are predicted to have purple stems and yellow-green leaves? How did this compare to the results that you obtained in this lab? The offspring that are predicted to have purple stems are 75%, this matched up with my findings in the lab result as 75% of my stems in the F2 generation were purple. About half of that had yellowgreen leaves, while the other half had purple on their leaves. b. Based on the Punnett square above, what is the percentage of offspring that are predicted to have non-purple stems and yellowgreen leaves? How did this compare to the results that you obtained in this lab?

4 The offspring that are predicted to have green stems are 25%, this matched up with my findings in the lab results as 25% of my stems in the F2 generation were green. About half of that had yellow-green leaves, while the other half had purple on their leaves. c. Based on the Punnett square above, what is the percentage of offspring that are predicted to have purple stems and non-yellowgreen leaves? How did this compare to the results that you obtained in this lab? The offspring predicted to have purple stems are 75%, this matched up with my findings in the lab as 75% of my stems in the F2 generation were purple. About half of that had non-yellow-green leaves, while the other half had yellow-green leaves. d. Based on the Punnett square above, what is the percentage of offspring that are predicted to have non-purple stems and nonyellow-green leaves? How did this compare to the results that you obtained in this lab?

The offspring predicted to have green stems are 25%, this matched up with my findings in the lab as 25% of my stems in the F2 generation were green. About half of that had yellow-green leaves while the other half had non-yellow-green leaves.
