Working with your group members, you are to conceive and select a project idea of your liking to innovatively address at least one of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The project idea should also closely align with your programme of study. Your group should then proceed to develop a: 1. Business Case to justify the validity and merit of your idea based on the potential impact, benefit, feasibility, novelty, and implied expected overall cost (order of magnitude) 2. Project Charter to seek approval for your idea, acquire the mandate to initiate, and formalise the starting point of the next planning phase. 3. Stakeholder Register and analysis to understand who is involved, what they expect, what you can expect from them and how you should manage and communicate with them. 4. Risk Register and analysis to understand what can go wrong and how you should manage 5. Use any Project Planning tool to guide the team in executing the chosen project. Page 1 of 4

Please Remember to keep all your working files, minutes etc. saved on MS Teams. The project Charter and the PMP are professional document aimed to support the team and project stakeholders’ to understand and manage the project. You are supposed to demonstrate your understanding of the module and meet the learning outcomes by producing documents that could enable a sponsor to approve the project (the charter) and new team member to understand what shall be done, how, by when, by whom and at what cost (PMP). This means that the explanation of how you did things and why you did things should be reported in the introduction following the report abstract while the other sections should be dry and to the point showing that you have understood and master the subject. The content should focus on the project idea and not the theory related to the various sections. That is in the stakeholders section you report and explain what concerns the project stakeholders not the theory of stakeholder management, this kind of information should be concisely reported in your words and with references in the introduction. The same applies to all other sections of the report. The provided templates (or any template you decide to adopt) should fulfil this purpose. Please consider this assignment as a real work challenge, a real opportunity to get your idea funded and developed, only then your work not only will demonstrate your learning and understanding of the subject but also – and more importantly – that you have reached the required level of professionalism to be labelled as young “Project Manager”. Assignment development process As you are a distributed team, to facilitate the teambuilding and bonding activities it will be necessary to undertake a few steps: a) Examine the 17 Sustainable Development Goals defined by the United Nation (you can access them using this link: https://www.un.org/development/desa/disabilities/envision2030.html). b) Complete the Theory X-Y questionnaire (available on Aula). c) Complete the Leadership style questionnaire (available on Aula). d) Individually produce Assessment 1 Tasks List and submit via MS Teams e) Complete the Belbin Team Roles questionnaire and show your Team role on Padlet on Aula. f) Complete the Team Member Profile and Code of Conduct g) Complete the Team Meeting Minutes for every group meeting h) Discuss project ideas in the group and use FreeMind from AppsAnywhere to gather and organise your ideas i) Use MS Teams for your communication, file sharing, and keep minutes for all your meetings and discussions. j) Use any Project Planning tool to plan your group tasks (i.e the project you are delivering for your PMP). These tasks must be scheduled and constantly monitored. Please note that this is a major output of this assessment As each team member can have a different idea of what project should be done, the work on the assignment should be structured as follows: 1) Group discuss project ideas during first team meeting, elect a team leader and finally select a project that is aligned with at least one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and your programme of study. 2) Discuss and develop an Organisation Breakdown Structure (OBS) for your project detailing who will do what in the Responsibility Assignment Matrix (RAM/RACI). 3) Research and document the State-of-The-Art (SoTA) related to your project to show that you have explored what has been done and what is new/ different about your project.

4) The agreed project idea must be captured in the Group’s project proposal and documented in your minutes of meeting. 5) Formalise your group idea with your assigned mentor and start working on your Project Charter. 6) Produce a 2-4mins video of your proposed project (your “Elevator Pitch”) for the Project Killer Squad. This will be used to approve your project. This video should be submitted on Aula before 6:00pm on Friday 9th Oct (ONLY 1 submission per group). 7) Identify, discuss and analyse the project Stakeholders and prepare the Stakeholders’ Register using the template provided. 8) Discuss and develop a Risk Breakdown Structure (RBS) for your project and prepare the Risk Register based on the provided template. 9) Once approved, formalise the approval in the Project Charter. 10) Upload the following documents to your group’s MS Teams section: a. Team Member Profile b. Team Code of Conduct c. Team Meeting of Minutes – at least 4 d. Group Project Proposal e. Produced Mindmaps This assessment has been designed to give you a real-life/ hands-on practical experience in applying project management concepts/principles and you are expected to document how you have applied your knowledge of project management used in delivering this project.
