A GENDER ANALYSIS OF WOMENOMICS IN THE JORDANIAN NATIONAL CURRICULUM

What is womenonics, and why is this an important term to discuss in Jordan’s employment of female workers? “Womenomics is the idea that women’s economic advancement will improve the economy as a whole. (Consulate General of Japan, 2015). Jourdan is known as a country in the middle east with very limited natural resources and foreign assistance. The country is open to more investment. Because of that open window as well as change in policies, Jordan has shown an increase in their economy. According to data from the Jordanian Department of Statistics (DOS), between 2005 and 2013 the average rate of participation of women in the labor market was 12–15%. This is more than twice as low as the regional average (22%) and more than three times below the average rate of participation in middle-income countries (47%). According to the same source, more than 85% of women at the age of working were not active. It will be important for the country to change the mindset of people, as women should be an added value to the economy.

Alexander and Welzel (2010) suggest that in order to achieve the economic empowerment of women, society would need to view women’s economic empowerment as being both “desirable” and “legitimate.”

women in society, will grow with that new ideas and with future generation, will see women including their daughter differently.

Take a moment to think about how womenomics looks in your country. Describe the aspects of womenomics where you live and how you believe it can improve. Cabo Verde has done a lot of progress in reducing the gap in the labor force. The working age population is considered to be 15 or older. According to Cabo Verde National statistics agency (INE), In 2014, labor force participation rate of women was 51.2 percent of the total female working-age population in Cabo Verde; for men, it was 65 percent of the total male working-age population (Marone, 2016).
