A Man Falls to His Death shows how media, science, language, and even mathematics explains life and death for that matter. If you would notice: the use of geometric formulas to illustrate the fall, including Berger's formula for optics to scientifically explain the impact and the man's motivation as parenthesized in the text. The poem was all about a man who was found dead, where we conclude that he committed suicide, he was dismissed for the reason that he displeased and annoyed the superior. If you’re anxious about something, it will eventually lead to the thought of committing suicide. According to what we researched, in the connection to Bautista’s biography, he worked for Ferdinand Marcos, and as what history said; Marcos’ administration marked a bloody and unfavorable period in which he used his power to control the innocent lives of many. To simply put, when you abuse your authority, the people around will taste hell. A quotation from the poem “a shadow traced the lines on his foot while shooting his brain with fireflies the money did” this might propose that the character has a problem with his mental health and it embraced his whole being which leads to suicide. The threat of his superior might trigger him to commit such an act. Bautista might write this poem to raise awareness of mental health because he was exposed to being a professor in Japan where the rate of persons committing suicide is high....
