Management Information Systems Name: Juan Andrés Gálvez Paredes Interactive Session: Management Monitoring Employees on Networks: Unethical or Good Business? 1. Should managers monitor employee e-mail and Internet usage? Why or why not? For me, in my opinion the answer is yes. Because in much cases the manager should give the monitoring their employee e-mail and internet usage during working hours. Employee are paid to work. Their common goal is to maximize the company’s profit. Employees are the most important assets in the company and they are representing for the company’s image. Companies that don't take action in such situations will be sued. This will cause the company’s resource on unnecessary dispute and damage the company’s image. Besides that, when employees spend a lot their time checking e-mail and the internet it will automatically give effect to the company revenue due to the less of employee productivity.

2. Describe an effective e-mail and web use policy for a company. An effective e-mail and Web Use Policy for a company should including a clear information. A company’s internet use policy should convey rules clearly and explicitly. Such as what action is permitted and what is not. These may include social networking sites and sites that contain pornographic, violet and threatening content. If certain styles of sites are allowed under the company's policy, they should be listed. The company also could make the policy flexible. They could allow employee doing non work-related legal online surfing and email during break time and lunch time with limited speed load.

3. Should managers inform employees that their web behavior is being monitored? Or should managers monitor secretly? Why or why not? An effective e-mail and Web Use Policy for a company should including a clear information. A company’s internet use policy should convey rules clearly and explicitly. Such as what action is permitted and what is not. These may include social networking sites and sites that contain pornographic, violet and threatening content. If certain styles of sites are allowed under the company's policy, they should be listed. The company also could make the policy flexible. If they occupied too much speed load, the regular online traffic will be blocked which could damage both hardware and software on company’s server....
