Description

Activity #6 (Part 2): Personality 1. Read the following case study and then describe Bob using the Big Five Personality Traits. Include his level of each trait by placing an X at the high, average, or low positions for each trait.

Hi, my name is Bob. I think that I’m a pretty typical guy, but my friends all say that I’m the life of the party. I’m really outgoing, and I like to crack jokes all the time. I get along with lots of different people, and I can talk to anyone about anything even if I don’t like what they’re saying. Still, I don’t mind debating someone or arguing about something that’s really important to me. I figure that people will get over it so long as I’m not too rude or mean. I also really like trying new things. New restaurant in town? I’m there. Skydiving? Sure! Why not? Need someone to give a speech at your wedding? No problem. I don’t really get nervous about stuff like that. Of course, maybe that’s why I don’t worry a lot about things like deadlines. I mean, I generally get my work done and I like doing a good job, but I have been known to let a few things slide. Good thing I can talk my way out of trouble most of the time, eh?

2. Based on Bob’s personality, how would you expect Bob to react in each of the following situations?  In a job interview? Since bob is outgoing and can get along with different types of people, I would expect him to do quite well in that type of setting. As well as how he likes doing a good job, however he isn’t known for following deadlines.  At the scene of an accident? Since he has low neuroticism, he will most likely be emotionally stable and not feel anxious. Also, since he has high extraversion, that would mean he would try to cheer people up even though a tragic event has occurred.  As a group member for a school project? He would most likely want to be the leader of the school project since he’s outgoing, also since he has the ability to deal with different types of people, he can also keep the ideas of other individuals organized in which will help keep the project organized.

Also, he would most likely say a bunch of jokes to make his date enjoy their time. In addition, since he is open to new things he would probably tell his date about all the adventures he has gone on in the past and potentially give ideas to future plans they can do together. Overall, I think he would make a good first impression. ________________________________________________________________________
