TITLE: Addictive behavior reports Positive alcohol expectancies and injunctive drinking norms in drinking to cope motives and alcohol use among older adults. AUTHOR/s: Tomorrow D.Wilson Linda AnnWray Rob J.Turrisi SUMMARY In summary, the results suggest that positive alcohol expectations during drinking and the importance of provisional drinking norms are important for coping motivation and the relationship between coping motivation and drinking behavior. In addition, drinking to address motivation can be particularly important not only in terms of heavy drinking behavior, but also in terms of total drinking days. In summary, the results suggest that positive alcohol expectations during drinking and the importance of provisional drinking norms are important for coping motivation and the relationship between coping motivation and drinking behavior. In addition, drinking to address motivation can be particularly important not only in terms of heavy drinking behavior, but also in terms of total drinking days. A better understanding of the role of drinking to cope would allow for improvement of clinical assessments of alcohol abuse; development of more of age-salient and comprehensive measures of drinking norms, alcohol expectancies, and drinking to cope motives tailed to older samples. In turn, providing clinicians with the tools necessary to screen and address the increasing alcohol- and psychoactive medication-related issues expected in the growing older adult

population has the potential to improve outcomes and the aging experience. Future studies using larger and more diverse samples of older people and more intensive assessments of positive alcohol expectations and norms of drinking, as well as individual differences (eg, this population). REFLECTION It helps to better understand the complex interactions between alcohol consumption, addresses motivation, positive expectations, and provisional drinking standards from proximal and distal speakers, promotes improved clinical evaluation, and alcohol. A measure of foreign developmental alcohol expectations, norms, and motivations to screen and encourage risk factors for abuse. RELEVANCE IN THE FIELD OF SPECIALIZATION As psychology students, we all know that there are incredibly normal activities that people can be addicted to. Nonetheless, the cycle of addiction remains out of control and is increasingly looking for opportunities to engage in behavior, which can turn everyday life into a constant struggle. The desire to experience a "high" from the behavior becomes so strong that the individual continues to engage in the activity despite any negative consequences. They can also experience withdrawal, or negative emotions and other symptoms when they aren't able to engage in the activity.so in psychology, Social cognitive theory proposes that drinking behavior is, in part, governed by outcome expectancies related to the perceived consequences of consuming alcohol. These expectancies, typically referred to as alcohol expectancies, are representations of alcohol related reinforcements....
