An example of an audience that I would give a presentation to is my class. The type of presentation that I would prefer in this case is PowerPoint and face-to-face since it would provide the class with visuals while allowing me to keep track of all the information. I also enjoy being able to see all of my classmates and my teacher in person while giving the presentation. As we saw in chapter 12, it is very important to engage with the audience as well in order to ensure that they are interested. So I would make sure to not simply read off the slides and also incorporate visual aids like graphics, special effects, and a nice background and fonts into the PowerPoint in order to keep my audience’s attention, as chapter 12 talked about. I could also incorporate personal touches into the PowerPoint so that the audience feels that they are connecting with me personally and therefore keep them engaged. To prepare for the presentation, I would polish my delivery by doing things like practicing in front of a mirror and practicing in front of my family/friends in order to gain confidence and be articulate and engaging on the day of the presentation. I would also prepare cue cards/index cards to help me remember what information I am going to elaborate on further, as I cannot write everything that I am going to say on the PowerPoint slides. Additionally, I would make sure that all of the technological aspects of my presentation are working beforehand. I would use the “play presentation” function on PowerPoint to make sure that all my special effects, images, hyperlinks, and bodies of text are in order before my presentation. In the classroom, I would also make sure that my mic was working and that the computer and speakers from which I would be presenting were also in order. Doing all of these things would ensure that the presentation would run smoothly....
