Description

All Writers Have More To Learn Summary - Jade Silva The purpose of this text is to further support the concept that you will never be the “perfect” writer. There is always something new to learn and your growth will be constant. No first draft is ever perfect; we can use multiple forms of revision, writing techniques, and externalization but text can always be improved. Writers often struggle to find the right words to express their thoughts and ideas. As Shirley Rose states,”They struggle because writing is not just transcribing performed ideas but also developing new ones…”. Surprisingly, failure can lead to the success of many writings and is often the start to a great text. It can push you to revise your text and use all of your resources in order to further improve your writing. Learning to write also requires many different forms of practice. Practice will further improve your fluidity, technique, and overall quality of your texts. However, revision will almost always improve your writing instantly. As Doug Down states, “ Revision works because writing shares a characteristic of other language-based endeavors; using language not only represents one’s existing ideas, it tends to generate additional language and ideas”. In conclusion, all writers will continue to grow and will always have more to learn.

Writing is not just learned in school, but it’s learned in your everyday life as well. Your experiences, emotions, and inner thoughts are all part of your journey as an evolving writer. Even J.K Rowling had her downs before writing the now infamous series of The Harry Potter Chronicles. Here she states, “It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all-in which case you fail by default”. She’s not the only one who struggled before finding her success. She is among many famous authors who shared a similar struggle such as Stephanie Meyer, (The Twilight Saga) and John Grisham, whos first book, (A Time To Kill), was rejected twenty-eight times. So you see, sometimes all it took to push people to the next level was some rejection letters and a strong will that kept them reaching for the top....
