We tend to focus more on what’s happening online rather than focusing on what’s in front of us. We give more importance to our online personality than changing ourselves for the better. Using social media as it was meant to be, to socialize more and to connect with people. To connect with other people and make connections with them face to face. C. Thesis Statement: How the use of Social Media is

How social media makes us unsocial by Allison Graham, taken place in the TEDxSMU explained in the TED Talk about how social media’s making most of its users more distant or more unsocialized, while explaining her points to the audience with first; the use of social media changes our focus from one to the other, tend to give more importance to ourselves digitally than physically, how we should use social media as how it was meant to be in the first place, and to connect with other people and make connections with them face to face.

distancing us from others and what can we do to moderate it. II.

Point 1 A. We tend to focus more on what’s happening online rather than focusing on what’s in front of us. B. As we focus more online, we forget what’s happening right now. (ie. Driving while texting, Looking at your phone while in a middle of a discussion, etc.) C. It’s true that back then, we didn’t have any laws stating that if one were to use their own devices while driving or doing something, it may affect another person’s free will and directly affecting them because of a breach.

She explains her first statement/point that every time we use a device to access our social media of our choice, we tend to focus more on it rather than focusing on what’s in front of us, explaining that due to doing this, we tend to be more careless around our environment and in which case, an accident might already be taking in place because of one’s own ignorance. Which for me personally I think is true because back then when smartphones were a thing, there weren’t any laws regarding the matter at hand and because of that, accidents like driving while texting are of common occurrence.

C. True, it should be the opposite that’s happening which is focusing more on the one in front of us that just looking at our screens.

personality rather than changing ourselves for the better”; explaining that

there’s someone or something far more important than the one right in front of us. I agree because what it should be is to be the exact opposite of the effect, to make ourselves be how we want to be seen and be looked at in a more presentable manner and fashion.

IV.

Point 3 A. Using social media as it was meant to be, to socialize more and to connect with people. B. To use online platforms as it was meant to be and still socialize with other people in the real world. C. I agree that we should focus on socializing more with people and even during the pandemic we should still talk to them and have a conversation with them.

V.

Conclusion

We should’ve been using online platforms as they were meant to be, to socialize with other people of different languages and connect with them via interests or topics to engage with. Agreeing with it that we should put more focus on socializing with other people of different language, race, skin color, etc. especially during the pandemic which we’re currently facing as of today, would be greatly beneficial and of course never forgetting to converse with other people in our relationship circle.
