These movies show the history of the Philippines under the rules of Spanish and the Americans. They also show the military forces of the countries which includes the Philippines and their resolve to gain their political interests ahead of another. The motherland which is our country symbolizes how we, the Filipinos can unite against a single common enemy. Whether it is one of our own, or from another country or race.

If that power is very valuable to the Philippines, then why we are using it against each other in the modern times? Like in this pandemic, we Filipinos are destroying each other indirectly. In what form? Examples of these are the people that uses the pandemic to gain selfish interests like overpricing products which includes facemasks, alcohol, and many other things that we use to be step other people ahead of us.

This thing is also portrayed in the movie, some Filipinos betrays each other in terms of having good relationships with the invaders, selling out crucial data, and such it is considered treason within the motherland. They say that history repeats itself which is true, and is directly happening in front of us right now, we are just too blinded to see what is really going on. What do I mean by blind? Blindness of being a follower. If our leader is not doing any good for their followers, then the ship would sink right? Failure to handle this pandemic by the government and only attacking its own citizens by this administration is what is also being portrayed in the 2 movies mentioned above.

The first president which is Emilio Aguinaldo, is foreseen to betray our comrades by killing them. Does it make any difference today? Yes, it is, but in the modern times like these, shaming and public threatening is already a violation in our democracy. This government did all that yet, the followers of this administration is too blind to see that, I don’t know if the one who would read this would agree as this is a really political opinion but, as citizens, we also need to observe what is happening around us.

Yes, in ROTC, we only follow orders by the higher ranked officers and we don’t have permission to say anything but if you think that they are already doing wrong, do we still follow them? Of course not. We must be considerate at all

times regarding our followers in order to build a healthy relationship. Under the constitution, the people are the power of the government. It just means that we have all the rights to demolish an abusive leader because without us, they are nothing. Don’t let Dr. Jose Rizal’s sacrifice for democracy against the Spaniards be stained. Don’t let our soldiers die on the battlefield helplessly. And don’t let the things in El Presidente and Heneral Luna happen again because we all know, that “History repeats itself.”...
