Ashley Augustus Lugene Rosen English C102 3 Oct. 2015 Disneyland - The Happiest Place on Earth? People all around the world always talk about how Disneyland is the happiest place on earth, but with long lines, pricey food, and bratty children running it clearly is not all that people say. The long lines waste more time at Disneyland than everything else. The park robs the visitors of an arm and a leg as people try to pay for everything. Finally, the children are not well behaved and can ruin the entire experience. The first topic is the incredibly long lines. One of Disneyland’s biggest drawbacks is the extremely long lines and how busy it always is. There are lines everywhere in Disneyland, whether it be getting into the park or waiting for a ride. The majority of the time spent at Disneyland is standing and waiting in lines. There is a line to simply ride a tram that takes the visitors to Disneyland, a line to pass through a bag check, a line for the ticket to be scanned, lines for food, lines for restrooms, lines for stores, lines for parades, and the biggest lines are for the rides. There are lines everywhere in the park no matter how simple of an activity that one is trying to accomplish. If all of the time spent at Disneyland was to be divided by activities, over 50 percent would be spent standing and waiting.

Another downside to Disneyland is how expensive the food is, especially when ticket prices are put into consideration. Disneyland is no longer a land of magic and making dreams come true. It has turned into a business. How can more money be made here? How much can people be charged before the merchandise stops selling? The prices inside Disneyland are drastically different than right outside of the park. A water bottle at a local 7-11 would cost one dollar while inside Disneyland the same bottle of water would cost $3.50. One would assume that since the tickets for Disneyland are so expensive the prices of food and even water would be decently priced. This could not be more wrong. When spending a day at Disneyland, expect to spend more than originally thought. The last factor that makes Disneyland terrible is the bratty children everywhere. They are obnoxious and will constantly annoy anybody else in line. If there are rope swings in the line, children will be swinging on them. If a child is not tall enough to ride a roller coaster, there will be a temper tantrum, and if a child is hungry or tired there will be endless amounts of crying until it is satisfied. Little kids will also cry when they are afraid and needless to say, not all parents are not considerate of this. Several parents will bring their little children on scary rides such as the Haunted Mansion or Pirates of the Caribbean. These rides are dark, cold, and scary with ghosts and skeletons hiding along the ride. This is never an optimal ride for little ones. However, children are still dragged on such rides and end up getting shaken and cry. Tears and screaming

do not help the ride at all, but instead ruin it. No one is able to enjoy a scary ride with a child screaming right in their ears. Frequently children ruin the entire ride and the Disneyland experience. The biggest annoyance that the children bring to Disneyland comes from all of their toys. Someone could be waiting patiently in line when bubbles or water is squirted onto their face. Yes, it may be blazing hot outside, but that does not give a child the right to be spraying the public in the face without warning. There are children walking everywhere around the park that have no idea what order is. Little kids will run diagonally and the populace will be left trying to avoid running into the little demons. Some will pointlessly argue that Disneyland is in fact the happiest place on earth on behalf of all the characters from the Disney movies can be seen. However, disney characters do not compensate for everything else that is wrong with Disneyland. The characters are not even real; they are just people wearing giant costumes. A major downside to the Disneyland characters is that they are occasionally difficult to find since they do not stay in one place and are not out the entire day. The characters will change spots and will not all be out at once. Once they are found, there will be additional lines just to take pictures with the fake Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Disneyland is not the happiest place on earth for the reason that it is always crowded, has expensive food, and there is always that bratty child in line. The crowds are terrible and the lines take up the majority of the time at Disneyland. The business aspect of Disneyland has taken over

the magic as the prices of food are insanely priced. Also, the children are an annoyance in the lines and as they run wild through the park. When all of this is realized about Disneyland, people will know that Disneyland is not as it seems....
