A  short sword for close combat by the Spartans. 14– What army was advantaged by the topography, and why? The  Persians got the advantage of the hills due to the Greeks only being able to see a few thousand of the Persians, not the full army. 15– What was the cowards’ weapon, according to the Spartans? The  bow and arrow due to it being able to kill from a distance rather than up close. 16– Who was Ephialtes? A  Greek traitor looking to get rich quick. He went to Xerxes and told him about a pathway around the mountainside to outflank the Spartans. His name now means “Nightmare” in modern Greek language. 17– How many Persians were lost? 10000  18– After his victory, what was Xerxes’ next objective? To  capture Athens by going through Thermopylae, however the citizens and army already fled the city-state....
