1-INTRODUCTION Araak Mining Company signed an agreement to explore and exploit gold and associated minerals in Block S12 at Albutana Area. Block S12 , occurs in the center of the dominant regional topographic feature knownas Albutana Plain. this Block chracterized by no outcrop except a single small mountain Jabel MONDARA at mid Eastern margin . 1.1-Locaton and Accessibility : Block S12 lies in Albutana area, Gedaref State bounded by the following coordinate:- point Lattude Longitude A 15o 05' 40.4'' N 34o 05' 34.8'' E B 15o 05' 40.4'' N 34o 26' 20.1'' E C 14o 52' 35.4'' N 34o 26' 20.1'' E D 14o 52' 35.4'' N 34o 05' 34.8'' E The total area of the Block about 903 Km2 , around Umshaafa it accessible through unpaved road through Algazeera state via Tamboul about 70 km and no telecommunicaton and network access . The area is dominated by fat clays plain which so called AlButana plain. The drainage system is represented by numerous semi seasonal streams (Wadi & Khors). The western system drain to the Blue Nile and the eastern system drain to Atbara River. Ground water is rarely found, especially in wadies, the water can be harvested during rainy season in dams and water ponds (Hafirs). Climatcally, the area occurs within semi arid to savannah region with high temperature in summer (Mach-June), and cold winter (December-February).
