MONGOL EMPIRE ----MONGOL EMPIRE---● Created the largest land based empire in history. ● However, despite this achievement the Mongols le a surprisingly small cultural impact, unlike the muslims. ● Mongolia culture remains largely restricted to Mongolia. ● Aer the fall of the Mongol Empires, most returned to the steppes of inner Eurasia or absorbed into the societies they conuered. ----GENGHIS KHAN---● In 1204, Temujin was proclaimed Genghis Khan “universal ruler”. ● Temujin became Genghis Khan because of his ghting ability, loyalty to allies and ability to form alliances with other Mongol tribes. ● He brought all the Mongol tribes into a single confederation, an achievement unheard of before. ● At Genghis Khan, he reorganized the Mongol military into units that were no longer based on the tribal aliations. Instead, high military and political ocials were chosen based on their talents and loyalty to him ● By alimitati tribal aliations Genghis was able to maintain unity. ----CONUEST---● In 1220, the Mongols took over Northern China. e Song Dynasty continued to rule until 1276, when his grandson, Kublai Khan, conuered southern China. ● In 1219, they took over Persia. ● It is important to note that Genghis KHan was a warrior not an administrator. He did not establish a central government for the lands that he conuered. Instead he assigned Mongol overlords to supervise local governments and extract lots of tribute for mongol uses. ● When genghis dies, his heirs divided this empire into four regional empires: China, Central Asia, Afghanistan, Persia, and Russia. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Empire to Empires Mongols ➔ Genghis Khan Islamic empire ➔ Arabic empire ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------...
