Assessment task title: Assessment 2 - Individual Essay Skeleton Due Date: On or before 5:00 pm AEST (via Moodle), Friday, Week 5 Weighting/Value: 20% Details of Task: Developing a one-page skeleton (i.e. outline) for an academic essay Students are required to develop a one-page skeleton for an argumentative essay to be submitted on the following topic later in the semester (i.e. Assignment 3). The essay question is: “Contemporary approaches to management are more reflective of human relations theory than classical theories of management” Through the use of relevant theory and real-life company examples, students are required to write an argumentative academic essay addressing the above statement. Assignment 2 (i.e. this assessment) requires students to develop a skeleton for the essay containing the following: ●

Introduction: purpose, scope, structure, stance taken;



Body: paragraph 1 theme, paragraph 2 theme, paragraph 3 theme and so on;

● Conclusion: summary of key arguments, stance taken, future of subject matter covered in essay; ●

References: List of key references (APA format)

The marking rubric for this assessment task is available on the MGF1010 Moodle site. Please ensure that you carefully compare your essay skeleton against the criteria listed in the marking template prior to submission. Release date: N/A Word limit: Maximum of one A4 page excluding reference list (Times New Roman or Arial, 12-point font size, 1.15 spacing) Presentation requirements: Students are required to develop a one page skeleton for the essay using bullet points under the following sub-headings: ●

Conclusion

In addition, a list of references (to be used as potential sources) should also be provided under the sub-heading 'References' using the APA format (see Q-Manual for further details) on a separate page. These sources should be cited within the one-page skeleton where appropriate. Learning objectives assessed: This assessment task assesses learning objectives 1, 4, & 5 of the unit. Submission details: Only Microsoft Word documents will be accepted (.doc / .docx) It is essential you adhere to the following format for the naming of the file you wish to submit: ●

it must contain your FULL NAME; and



there must be no space in the filename. (i.e. janedoe_essay.docx)

You will receive a confirmation message within Moodle once you have successfully submitted your assignment within the electronic dropbox. Comments and grading of your assessment will be communicated to you via Moodle. Penalties for late lodgement: The penalty for late submission is 10% per day, including weekends. For information on applying for special consideration, please visit: http://www.monash.edu/exams /changes/special-consideration It is suggested that students plan to submit assessment tasks before the due date to cover any unexpected delays that may be encountered in finalising and completing the submission.
