Isis Deras Madrid Mr. Francisco Rovelo Global Perspctives Due August 4,2021 Assignment #2 Abortion Ban Law in Texas A social movement has been going on in Texas. A law went into effect on September the 1st. Protest have been going on since then. People in Texas mostly women have been protesting against the law. The law stablishes that an abortion can only be performed during the first 6 weeks of gestation. If a clinic performs an abortion after the time established other citizens can sue the clinic that performed. The law that went into effect in Texas that bans abortions after about six weeks of pregnancy. That's well before many women even know they are pregnant. The law allows private citizens to sue abortion providers and anyone else who helps a woman obtain an abortion including those who give a woman a ride to a clinic or provide financial assistance to obtain an abortion. Private citizens who bring these suits don't need to show any connection to those they are suing. The law makes no exceptions for cases involving rape or incest. If a case rules in favor of the accuser the other person haves to pay a fee of at least 10000 dollars. For a person over 6 weeks of pregnancy to leave state to an abortion center that is able to attend her needs is at least a 12-hour drive from Austin and not everyone can afford it. I consider it a Reformative social movement because it’s trying to change something but not the complete system only a zone. I think everyone is in complete responsibility of their own body and that no la should make a woman lose that option to take her own decisions about her life. What is the point of allowing women to do it only in the first six weeks if they might not even now o their pregnancy too late to even consider abortion?
