Root, Prefix or Suffix? Instructions: In a short paragraph please explain what a root, a prefix, and a suffix are, also explain the differences.
A root is the basis of a word and is usually derived from a Greek or Latin origin. The prefix is what precedes the root. The suffix is found after the root. Not all words have to have all three components; some may just have two of the three. Combining the meanings of the prefix, root, and suffix of the word will give you the meaning of the word.
Word Definition and Breakdown Instructions: Please define the words on the right and break them down into their word roots, prefixes and/or suffixes.
