Edgework In her infamous television interview with Larry King, Karla Faye Tucker said during the violence she received extreme gratification from hacking the two victims to death. In fact she even achieved sexual gratification through these acts. Jewkes uses the term sneaky thrill to describe edgeworks, also it can be defined as pleasure through committing acts of crime. In the assigned article Tucker also states she felt like one of the guys after hacking the victims to death. Arousal Hypothesis The arousal hypothesis states that a person is already in a state of arousal when another action causes them to lash out, usually when not in a state of arousal would not cause a lashing out. This also fits Tucker’s case, in the required article, it is very clear that Tucker does not have a found liking towards the male victim. Tucker is sent over the edge when she sees Shawn, Tucker’s friend, had been beaten by the male victim. During the commission of the break in when Tucker discovers the male victim already sleeping with another woman. This made Tucker snap and go back out into the living room and grab the pick axe.
