Description

A gourmet Tour de France: French regional specialties France is the country of good food, and every region has its traditional dish. If you do not know which dish to choose in a restaurant here is an overview of the specialties of some French regions, to help you make your choice when travelling to one. In the Nord Pas-de-Calais, the Carbonnade flamande (beef stew) is the recipe present in all good taverns but also on many tables during Sunday family meals. In the Picardie region, we will highlight the Maroilles- a widely-enjoyed cheese, which is sweetened when cooked to make the recipe for the Maroilles cheese tart. A special mention for the Franche-Comté region, on which we will focus today because of its variety of cheeses such as: Comté, Morbier, Cancoillotte, and many others. But it is also the area of the sausage, the sausage of Montbéliard in particular. Regarding cheese, indeed Auvergne doesn’t fall behind. Aligot, in particular, is a typical dish from the region, and is prepared with potatoes and tome fraîche cheese. In the Limousin region, we will also talk about potato dishes such as potato pie or tourtière (meat pie), into which meat is added. When it comes to the Centre region, we are offered its delicious Tarte Tatin....
