Description

Assignment 3 – Career mentoring evaluation and reflection

Mentoring is a method of the informal transfer of information, social power and psychological counselling viewed by the participant as important to work, employment or leadership growth. Mentoring includes informal collaboration typically face-to-face and over a long period of time with an individual considered to have more appropriate expertise, qualifications and training. Mentors are trusted consultants and role models, they are individuals who have been already been there and done that. By providing advice and expertise both general and personal, they support and inspire their mentees. Their goal is to help their mentees develop their skills and progress their careers.

We often may not have answers to every issue we face in our day-to-day work, hence why we have mentors to support and direct us through some of our tough working days. Mentors are there to help guide us through circumstances such as colleague problems, future career path growth opportunities and also help to develop the technical and practical skills including interactions with coworkers, communication, and the responsibility of decision making.
