Example of ASSURE MODEL Lesson Plan Duration of the lesson: 60 minutes Subject Matter: Subject Verb Agreement

Students Characteristics:

I. Analyze the Learners

The lesson is designed for 9th grade school students age range from 14-16 which comprises of 15 female and 5 male students. These students are skilled in the use of technology gadgets such as smart phones, tablets, and computers. They used technology mostly in educational purposes. The students’ cognitive level are from average to above average. They tend to enjoy activities such as writing, speaking or any relevant activities that could develop their talents. Most of the students are active rather than passive learners.

Learning styles: Majority of the students in the class are visual learners where they are more active in visual instructional materials especially in projected material like slide presentation, and visuals.

II. State Standards and Objectives

At the end of 60 minutes period, the students will be able to: 1. Define clearly the rules of subject verb agreement through the lesson presentation;

2. Value properly the importance of subject verb agreement in an essay writing; and

3. Perform accurately the rules of subject verb agreement through writing a short poem.

III. Select Strategies, Technology, Media and Materials

Strategies: Teacher will use the subject-centered and learners-centered strategies in an inter-active approach way of teaching.

Technology and Materials:

Teacher will present his/her topic through projected materials like projector. Students will have an access to laptops and projector in presenting their output.

Media: Students will use visual photos as a representation of their final output.

Prepare the materials: Laptops, projected materials, visual photos will be check for the appropriateness to the topic and accessibility for the students.

Prepare the environment: IV. Utilize Technology, Media, Materials

The projected materials will be place at the front of the students while the chair will arrange in a manner that allows for small group work. The ventilation and other related things will be prepared that make the classroom conducive for learnings.

Prepare the learners: Learning objectives will presented to students at the start of the lesson. Students will receive a copy of the topic for their reference as a guide to their final output and discussion. The students are expecting to participate both individual and group discussion. The lesson is structured to engage students during class discussions and activities at the end of the topic. Individual Discussions:

V. Require Learning Participation

Prior to interactive teaching strategies during class discussion where the teacher will ask certain questions like the definition of the topic, importance of the topic, etc. to develop their critical thinking skills.

Group Activity: Students will group into three groups. This will refer to the psychomotor domain where students will applied their knowledge through writing a short poem together with picture. This activities enable the students to practice the rules of subject verb agreement through writing. The students will use the laptop and projector in presenting their output. VI. Evaluate and Revise

The students will assessed through formative examination aligned to the three domains being set. Multiple Choices(Objective Type): This will test the cognitive levels of the students prior to the topic.

Essay (Subjective Type): The students will write in an essay about the importance of subject verb agreement in constructing the sentence. Prior to the affective domain, students will respond to the importance of the topic.

Performance : Aligned to the outcome based education. Holistic education happened if the students will not only learned but to apply of what they learned through writing a short poem with the use of subject verb agreement. This type of assessment will be graded through rubric.

At the end of the discussion there should be feedback that allows the learners to share their perspective point of view about the topic as the teacher listen on it. Feedback also will help the students to clarify things and understand better to the topic.

Revised: Through the assessment results will determined if you are an effective teacher or not if the students get high scores on both holistic assessment ways like paper and pen test or through performance. For the revision, the topic, strategies, and instructional materials should always aligned to the objectives and needs or interest of the learners....
