Culture Today Australia has grown to a multicultural and highly diverced society. The culture in Australia is mainly a western culture, because of its days as a British colony. The original culture of Australia is basically gone as a result of this. Australia is one of the most urbanized countries in the world. There are around 60 percent of the population living in the 8 largest cities. Some of them are: Sydney, Darwin and Canberra. Art in Australia has a long history. There exist Aboriginal art that dates back at least 30 000 years. Examples of Aboriginal rock artwork can be found all over the continent. One can find many major art museums and galleries. Demography Demography is shortly explained as a measurement or study of a population, mostly of humans and that’s what I’m going to talk about. Little bit background: Mostly of Australia’s population come from their colony background. Today their population growth consists mainly of their immigration program. In 2008 – 2009 they took in about

300 000 immigrants. In 2006 – 2007 they took in about 130 000, so it’s a huge boost to the immigration. Education: The children of Australia start their education when their 5 or 6 years old. They have 11 years of education they must go through, with further education being optional. In south Australia and Tasmania, they have a bit different education, they have 10 years of education that you are obligated to go through with 2 optional years. So, its pretty much like Norway. Urbanization: Australia is one of the most urbanized countries in the world. 75% of the people who live in Australia lives in cities. History The History of Australia refers to the history of the area and people of the commonwealth of Australia, which is a sovereign country comprising the mainland of the Australian continent. And its preceding indigenous Australians who are the aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of Australia, descended from groups that excited in Australia and surrounding islands before British colonisation. Aboriginal Australians arrived on the Australian mainland by sea from Maritime Southeast Asia between 40,000 and 70,000 years ago. The artic, musical and spiritual traditions they established are among the longest surviving such traditions in human history. Aboriginal Australians are legally defined as people who are members of the " Aboriginal race of Australia" (indigenous to mainland Australia or to the island of Tasmania). In 2011, almost 670 000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were living in Australia; around 3 per cent of the Australian population. By 2031, it is estimated that this number will exceed one million, with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people comprising 3.9 per cent of the population. One third (34.8 per cent) of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people live in major cities; 43.8 per cent live in regional areas; 7.7 per cent live in remote areas; and 13.7 per cent live in very remote areas. In 2011, more than one in three Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were under 15 years (36 per cent), compared with one-fifth of non-Indigenous Australians. Almost 4 per cent of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were aged 65 years and over, compared with 14 per cent of non-Indigenous Australians. In 2011, 11 percent of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people spoke an Indigenous language at home. Bacteria spreading in Australia The habitants in Australia have been infected by a bacterium. The minister of health, Greg Hunt, says that the disease the bacterium gives is very painful. The disease gives the skin a lot of damage. You can get killed, lame and some must remove body parts.

Scientist don’t know how the bacterium is spreading, but the Government gave Australia a million dollar for research. Over 2000 people gets killed by such bacteria every year. Most people who gets sick are from West- and Central-Africa. To prevent the bacteria from spreading we could donate more money for research, or the scientists could look up and research other bacteria to find something similar to each other....
