The play begins and becket is dead, his ghost appears, and the king is about to get punished for something His son wants his kingdom for some reason And he and becket were friends, but something happened He seems very conceited and child like Becket appears to be sensible The king and becket used to fuck?? Wow, did not see that coming (not each other lol) “let him get too close, and one day he’ll stab you in the back” foreshadowing? “before the day of his death, nobody knows his real courage” “You have to risk your life to feel alive” “without labels the world would lose its shape” The king is definitely in love with becket The king knows nothing about his kingdom “people who cant do anything don’t know how lucky they are” I don’t like the king, but I like becket “I don’t like being loved. I told you”

Act ONE summary: Becket and the king are friends, and the king is terrible and childish. He gives becket a position in the clergy as deacon, and demands the church for money, which they kind of refuse to pay. Pg 97 “why can you never answer a straight question”  Aww they killed the little monk so easily  The four barons kill becket and the king gets whipped as punishment  Lol, the king wants beckets killers killed, and he gives the barons the task to do so  But he knows it was the barons Act four summary: Becket knows hes about to die and doesn’t fight it. He and the king made peace, but then the king was sad and said he wanted becket dead so the barons killed him and the king was whipped. “Will no one rid me of this turbulent/meddlesome/troublesome priest?” “what miserable drones I have nourished who will let their lord be treated with such contempt...” conversational implicature, with clear authority hierarchy Pg 106, second to last paragraph “Can no one rid me of him?
