2 Benchmark: Organizational Structure The Hanger Clinic is a national 155-year orthotic and prosthetic organization. In over 800 clinics across the United States, they hire over 2000 healthcare providers and 4900 personnel (Hanger Clinic, n.d.). Their organizational chart is a multifaceted composition of individuals of diverse experiences and characteristics of leadership. With Chief Executive Officer Vinit, who is immediately above the president of the company, the chain of command begins. President Samuel has five distinct staff chiefs who oversee the individual roles of the entire operation. These five chiefs of staff then have directors of operations who supervise four managers for each business sector. The system is very distinct, concentrating on the hierarchy of business needs and activities, in order to allow management on such a large scaleIn an effort to ensure that all areas are coordinated and operate together as one, the managers of this company are on all committees that help promote interactions between the different functions. Via their integrated communication processes, importance is achieved by leadership styles and leadership approaches, a shared vision to lead the orthotics and prosthetics markets by delivering superior patient care, outcomes and facilities (Hanger Clinic, n.d.). Communication Strategies For a successful company, effective communication is important. Changes in initiatives and implementation require good communication between each business sector and all people within the company (Australian National University, n.d.). Hanger Clinic is doing this with a committee like approach. Just as a board of directors meets in an organization to process financial phases and results, each line of business has a committee to deal with the changes needed to move the company towards achieving its vision. In order to plan for the implementation of the directives that need to be enforced, managers then communicate with

3 other area managers. The designation of the person to be in charge of the particular change shall guide the process by presenting a clear vision and clarification of the change. They provide updates in the process. If the amendment plan has been approved, the implementation portion will begin. The approved proposal will detail the different phases of implementation and the measures for each phase (Australian National University , n.d.). The progress of the execution is also tracked and communicated along the way. Leadership Styles The many types of leadership of this company are what build a powerful presence that they have built within their industry. It starts with the creation of a shared vision within the community. All this starts with the CEO, who expresses forward thinking commitment to his transformative leadership style models. They believe in the vision and abide by the Directive to accomplish their mutual objectives because of their desire to inspire their workers. This is followed by the President, who has developed a style of leadership of the Directive. In his correspondence, Samuel is very clear in defining the objectives of the company and the region of the company and establishes the structure needed by placing qualified individuals in their roles in each sector. This roll-out enables leaders to balance structures that succeed with some of the core leadership skills to produce the best possible outcomes. Leadership Techniques An organization of this scale and magnitude requires specific leadership qualities to navigate transition within the business effectively. Via the principle of breaking up each area under a different chain of command, individual leaders with distinct features can be present where they are best suited to oversee the changes needed by the organization. The Chief Clinical Officer is a Supportive Leader whose features of being approachable and empathic include the support that

4 clinical staff need to provide to their patients (Maurer, 2018). The Chief Compliance Officer leads in a more Directive approach by establishing structure, clarifying employee perceptions of their obligations, and ensuring that measures are met that are essential in setting and adhering to adequate compliance protocols (Maurer, 2018). The Chief Revenue Officer is extremely achievement-oriented in his personality and demonstrates the characteristics of bringing individuals to the next level. It helps to increase income for the growth and success of the company by encouraging more to be done by those within its department. Finally, in a participatory model, the Chief Information Officer shows leadership that is accompanied by his ability to promote buy-in through his active engagement in the processes (Maurer, 2018). Combined communication methods, leadership styles, and leadership approaches make it possible for Hanger Clinic to fulfill its common goal by delivering superior patient care, performance, resources and value to lead the orthotic & prosthetic markets (Hanger Clinic, n.d.). It is possible to clearly define the sources of power within the organizational framework. This organization's leaders are where they are because of their devotion to putting the organization first (Fisher, 2017). They are actively contributing their strengths and insights for the future of the company. Good communication and courage, through trust, are different ways of gaining control within the organizational framework. By concentrating on representing the people they lead and the patients they are accountable for, rather than worrying about themselves, leaders will remain in control (Fisher, 2017).
