Beyond the Classroom 4: Self as Shark An experience I had that allowed me to see myself as an NSU Shark is when I performed at Pep Rally. I got to dance a pep rally as a member of the Hallyu Dance Team. Prior to performing at the pep rally, I had already begun to feel I was becoming a NSU Shark because of all the clubs I joined and event I had been participating in. The clubs made me feel welcome and allowed me to quickly adjust to life at Nova Southeastern University. I also participated in some events on campus, which allowed me to feel more a part of the community. However, once I performed, I felt I had become a shark because of all the school spirit everyone was displaying. Once the performance was over, I joined the crowd and displayed my school spirit, which made feel as though I am part of the NSU Shark community now. This experience taught me how to be involved with the community and promote school spirit, which will help me feel comfortable at NSU and contribute to the NSU community. By getting involved with community I can build connections with others and start networking, which will allow me to get or be informed of good opportunities such as research, internships, or volunteer work. This will ultimately let me connect with people who can help with career path towards becoming a forensic pathologist....
