Figure 1: Respiration Rates/Cumulative O2 production in mL/O 2 and 95% Confidence Interval of the Tenebrio Molitor mealworms during the control and experimental tubes with soda lime packet treatments which were each applied for 16 minutes attempting 2 sets of data trials. It is very important to calculate the reliability of statistical numerals for evidence that your interpretations are correct. The mean for the experimental tube with fasted mealworms is significantly larger to the mean for the experimental tube with non-fasted mealworms. By referring to the data and the 95% Confidence Intervals, it is seen that the error bars overlap. This means that the Alternative hypothesis that was saying, both treatments did have different impacts on the respiration rates of the mealworms, is rejected. This leads to the Null Hypothesis that was saying, both treatment options had no effect on the respiration rates of the mealworms, to be correct. When studying the size of the 95% Confidence Intervals, for the experimental tubes with fasted mealworms, it is fairly large resulting to a conclusion that the data is not reliable due to the long range of possible numbers (0.01 - 0.6). However, when looking at the experimental tubes with non-fasted mealworms, the size is fairly small lasting anywhere from 0.02 – 0.04. This shows us that this information is more reliable and correct. In conclusion, by referring to this statistical data, it would be fair to say that both treatment options were the same and that fasted or non-fasted type did not affect the cumulative O 2 production and respiration rate in mealworms....
