Description

1. Think back to past presentations. What presentation "don'ts" are you guilty of? Most common: reading slides verbatim, too much text, unprofessional graphics, wild fonts, etc. You can also take a look at http://www.garrreynolds.com/Presentation/slides.html (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. for other presentation "don'ts" a. I’ m not guilty of many presentation don’ts as I have presented for many years, did debate and have taken communications. However, in the past I have read off of slideshow verbatim and that is so unprofessional because you aren’ tmaking any eye contact. In high school, I also made presentation with wild fonts because I wanted the presentation to be “ cute” , I wish I would have known back then that wasn’ tprofessional. 2. In your upcoming oral presentation, what is something that you plan to include that you have not done before? a. I usually like using transitions because they capture the audience’s attention and keep them engaged in my presentation. However, on the link that was posted it says to not use them because animations get redundant and annoying if used on every slide. 3. From question 2: How will you accomplish this? What type of tools will you need? (For example: Let's say you have never created a graph and want to do so for this project. You would need not only the software tools but would need to learn how to create and display a graph within your chosen presentation program. How would you go about doing that?) a. Well in order to do this, I won’t add animations to every slide, only a select few. Also, to aid in making it more professional I will use Microsoft PowerPoint to add only the simplest animations like a simple swipe left to right. 4. What are your biggest "fears" about this project? How do you plan to overcome them? a. My biggest fear in this project, which is the same fear in all of my presentations is my voice starts to shake even though I am not nervous. It happened even when I would do debates in high school and middle school. It is something that I have never been able to overcome and when my voice starts to shake, I start talking faster as well. MY biggest fear is that both of these will help again during my presntation and people will laugh at me....
