Course Overview: This first year Biology course is designed to motivate, instruct, and excite students about the science of Biology. All major topics will be covered including, but not limited to: cell structure and function, respiration, photosynthesis, genetics, evolution, animal classification, and human biology. While the study of biology requires extensive memorization, emphasis will be on interconnecting core concepts and ideas. Materials: ● Text: Biology, Miller and Levine ● Three ring binder or spiral notebook with dividers (exclusive to this class) ● Colored pens and pencils ● Notecards Assessment: The final grade in this course will be an average of quiz grades, test grades, lab reports, class participation, homework, notebook, effort and the final exam. Be aware that discipline issues in class, lateness, and truancy will result in points being deducted from the final average in this class.
